Hi friends!!!
This year’s Easter was such a lovely day — worship, a little sun, good food, easy conversation, and the kind of slow morning that made me want to stretch it out as long as possible.
Easter is always a special day, but this year I felt especially grateful for the reminder that Jesus died on the cross for us — and now, it’s our turn to live for Him! It’s a day full of grace, hope, and quiet joy.
Easter brunch is a Veliz family tradition. Not because it’s big or fancy, but its a time where we all get to sit around the table and share a meal together (something that is hard to come by these days as we all have different schedules!) It’s a chance to celebrate spring with the people I care about and put a little extra love into the details.
Although brunch is typically a morning treat, we ended up having a slow, easy start to the day and didn’t sit down to eat until the afternoon. And honestly, it was perfect that way — no rush, just letting the day unfold.
We set the table in the dining room with all the pastel feels — soft pinks, buttery yellows, and fresh greens. Custom place cards, and perfectly tied pink bows made each place setting come together. My sugar cookies, decorated in festive shapes like carrots and eggs, doubled as decor and added the sweetest little detail to the table!
The centerpieces were two bundles of pink hydrangeas that brought the whole table together — bright but soft, and so easy to arrange.
And because egg prices this year are unreasonably high, I got creative: I found plastic eggs that came in little half-dozen cartons and painted them in shades of pink and yellow to match the tablescape. They turned out to be one of my favorite details — cute, low-effort, and reusable for next year.
The tablescape was a real labor of love — and a team effort. My amazingly talented mom helped pull it all together, and she has such a gift for vintage finds and curating them to perfection. It felt like a personal shopping trip just for my brunch table! From tablecloths to plates to vases, she knew exactly what would work without it feeling overly uniformed.
The menu was centered around a French toast bar, which turned out to be a fun (and very crowd-pleasing) idea. We did it three ways: thick slices of ciabatta, buttery croissant, and chocolate chip brioche. For toppings, we had bowls of fresh berries, maple syrup, powdered sugar, and chopped walnuts — so everyone could make it their own.
On the side, we served scrambled eggs, roasted red potatoes, and buttermilk biscuits with a little cinnamon sugar on top. Everything was easy, delish, and made to share.
We lingered and chatted all afternoon — no rushing, no agenda. Just catching up, passing plates, and enjoying the sunshine.

OLIVIA’S HOSTING TIPS
If you’re thinking of doing something similar soon — Mother’s Day, a birthday, or just a spring get-together — here’s what helped me:
Prep ahead: Set the table and make any decor a few days before so you’re not scrambling
Pick a loose theme: Ours was spring pastels with Easter accents this year, which made everything easier to plan
Don’t overthink it: If it makes you happy, it’ll shine through
I hope this gives you a little inspo for your next brunch or gathering. Sometimes the simple stuff ends up being the most memorable!
HAPPY EASTER! HE IS RISEN!
xoxo, Olivia!
